First 2010 Spring NIRA/SWR Rodeo: Weatherford College,

New Mexico Junior College Rodeo Team started the Spring 2010 Rodeo season at Weatherford College, March 4-6, 2010. Highlights of the rodeo included NMJC team roper sophomore Bailey Herwig (Heeler) from Hobbs and his partner Taylor Mitchell (header) from Ranger College roped their steer at 6.5 sec. in the long-go placing3rd. In the short-go they three looped their steer taking them out of the short-go and average.
The Thunderbird team ropers freshmen C.D. Wilcox (Header) from Goochland, Va. and his partner freshmen Tee Jay Boles (Heeler) from Cardston, Alberta, Canada roped their long-go steer in 7.8 sec. placing 8th and came back in the short-go with the time of 6.6 sec. finishing 1st. This gave them the time of 14.4 sec. on two head and 2nd in the average.
NMJC’s bull rider sophomore Stewart “Stewie” Kinley from Gladstone, Manitoba, Canada rode his long-go bull for a score of 68 placing 8th, but was bucked off in the short-go.
The next NIRA/SWR Rodeo is the Odessa College Rodeo, Odessa, TX, March 25-27, 2010.
