What was a great game to watch for the spectators was a very disappointing defeat for NMJC. The first ten minutes of the first half it seemed that the Lady T-Birds were in control of the contest but the Lady Chaps weren't going away easy as they heated up from the 3pt. line by going 7 for 12. It led to the Lady Chaps being up at the break by 6 points.

1/17/2012 10:44:52 AM – Coach Sanders and the Lady T-Birds have enjoyed a very successful 1st half of the season as they head into WJCAC play with a 16-2 record. The post oriented offense has served Honor Duvall, a freshman from Cache, OK, well as she is leading the team in scoring (13.8 ppg) and field goal percentage (56% fg). Defensively it has been a very energized Kya Degarmo that seems to give the team a spark defensively with steals(69 assist, 48 steals) and constant harassment of the opposing point guards. The sensational sophomore Te'onna Campbell (46 steals, 12.0 ppg, 7.5 rpg) has been solid on both ends but is looking to increase her output in conference play. Newcomer Stacey Telles (65 assist, 7.8 ppg) has been awfully special on the court as well with her ability to push the ball in transition and create scoring opportunites for her teammates. Three freshmen Markia Thomas, Valerie Barriga, and Waleska Perez have also been key contributors throughout the first 18 games.

11/16/2011 9:13:50 AM – To start the contest it was all Pima as the visitors jumped out to a 7-0 advantage as they took advantage of a NMJC squad that came out of the gates unfocused and not very motivated. At the 18:03 mark it was a “do better speech” from Head Coach Drew Sanders that immediately motivated the Lady T-Birds to total dominance. It seemed early on that Pima may be able to play with the home town girls but on NMJC’s first offensive possession after the magical timeout Angel Reyes received a pass from Teonna Campbell and nailed a three from the right wing. That bucket seemed to send a message to the opponent that their chances of competing with the Lady T-Birds was slim to none. The Lady T-Birds were 7-10 from behind the arc at half-time with Stacie Telles leading the way going a perfect 3 out of 3. The three point shooting nearly blew the opponent back to Arizona as they were down 50-20 going in at the half. NMJC scored 21 of their 50 from behind the three point arc in the first half.
